Prof. Md. Atiar Rahman University of Chittagong, Bangladesh & Walailak University, Thailand Professor Dr. Md. Atiar Rahman graduated from the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, University of Dhaka, in 1996. He did MSc in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of Dhaka in 1997. Professor Rahman was conferred PhD in Biochemistry and Food Science from the United Graduate School of Agricultural Sciences, Ehime University, Japan, in 2006. He also accomplished a one-year postdoctoral research at KwaZulu Natal University, Durban, as an NRF fellow of the South African Government. Professor Rahman works as a Principal Investigator at the Laboratory of Alternative Medicine and Natural Product Research and a Professor at the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Chittagong. He is a former Chairman of the same university's Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. He just finished his one-year contract as an International Professor (Distinguished Scholar Category) at Walailak University, Thailand. He has conducted more than 20 research projects offered by the Ministry of Science and Technology Bangladesh, Ministry of Education Bangladesh, University Grants Commission Bangladesh, Bangladesh Agriculture Research Council (BARC), and Chittagong University Research and Publication Cells on therapeutic prospects of plat and plant-based products. The synthesis of biogenic nanoparticles using plant products and the evaluation of their therapeutic potential in doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity are among his most successful research projects. The effect of plant materials in noncommunicable therapeutic management through the modulation of gene expression is also his significant contribution to the drug discovery process. He has more than 135 publications in international and national peer-reviewed, high-quality, preferably in Q1 indexed scientific journals of esteemed publishers such as Elsevier, Wiley, Springer, and MDPI. Dr. Rahman has presented more than 100 scientific conference talks at both international and national events. Additionally, he has authored five book chapters that have been published by esteemed editors and prominent scientists. |
